Update
Dear friends of Lake Ellen Bible Camp,
I have been able to find more old Lake Ellen camper/family email addresses so let me begin this update with some of the original information for those who may be hearing about renewing Lake Ellen Bible Camp for the first time:
There is an effort to purchase back the land containing Lake Ellen Bible Camp and re-open the camp to again be a place for evangelism, ministry, and discipleship for Jesus Christ. Converge- formerly the Baptist General Conference sold all of the property a number of years ago but the logging/land company that purchased it has done a good job maintaining the property, keeping Mike Willig busy there, etc. A new board has been formed and many grants have been applied for- some for purchasing and some for operations- and are waiting upon us to successfully raise $1 million dollars toward the purchase.
The new board met again last month and has another meeting coming up next week. At our last meeting bylaws and a statement of faith were adopted to help guide us and to show potential supporters our commitment to and foundation in Christ and the scriptures. Presently, the board has received over $80,000 in pledges. This is incredibly encouraging but also a long way to our goal. So far, many of the pledges are from individuals. We need all of your help to spread this to many more individuals and families but also to churches and other potential donors who may be able to give as well. The board has approached several larger ministries and has hopes for significant help from them. Below you will find a couple of graphics we have put together that you are welcome to share with others you know may be interested in helping. Most of all, we continue to need your prayers. Pray for our small board of volunteers, many of whom have other jobs and commitments. Pray for our chairman, Mel, who has several serious ongoing health issues. Finally, pray for the restoration of God's saving work at Lake Ellen Bible Camp.
